Essential Disciplines For Teens
This curriculum, ready to use out-of-the-box, equips teens with the practical understanding and potential immediate mastery of five Essential Disciplines or necessary practices for personal and interpersonal success. The five Essential Disciplines focus on character, communication, conflict resolution, continual improvement, and ones calling (purpose, passion and vision). In the field of computer and software this is referred to as a consistent user interface. Regardless of the software used, the user always works with a window and always has a pull-down menu at the top of the screen, and so forth. Once a user learns how to navigate these consistent features, they can work their way through almost any software program. Similarly, Essential Disciplines does this for personal and relational growth. It teaches you how to navigate relationships by recognizing certain common and enduring features. Here is a simple overview: The Refine process concentrates on self (me) and focuses on character development. The Share process concentrates on the other (you) and focuses on communication. The reconcile process concentrates on self and other (we) in negative situations and focuses on conflict resolution. The Enhance process concentrates on the positive in situations and focuses on continual improvement. The Envision process concentrates on the possible in situations and focuses on ones calling, purpose and passion.
