One step in particular will help you and us build whole relationships and strong marriages - support a Community Marriage Policy.

Faith-based and community leaders are invited to review and sign a draft Community Marriage Policy (CMP) indicating support of the general concept. Communities with an established CMP have averaged a 2% per year decline in the divorce rate. Springfield Ohio dropped their divorce rate 45% in 3 years! Research says 86% of weddings are performed by pastors, priests, and rabbis, yet over 70% of couples report having no premarital preparation outside of planning a wedding.

About the Faith Partners Community Marriage Policy

Over 200 cities and towns in the United State have adopted a Community Marriage Policy® with the goal to "radically reduce the divorce rate in area churches."  Clergy join together across denominational and racial lines and sign a covenant to make healthy marriages a priority in their congregations, improving the overall health of families and churches. Specifically, in Community Marriage Policies®, religious leaders pledge to train Mentor Couples to help other couples at every stage of the marital life cycle to achieve six great goals:

1. Avoid a bad marriage before it begins
2. Give "marriage insurance" to the engaged
3. Enrich all existing marriages
4. Restore four out of five troubled marriages
5. Reconcile the separated
6. Help stepfamilies succeed
